As a Library Assistant I, you will be responsible for providing access services functions, assisting with circulation desk procedures, and supporting students with tutoring appointments and library materials. You will work closely with our Reference Librarian and other team members to ensure the smooth operation of our Library Learning Commons. Key Responsibilities:
Perform circulation desk procedures, including checking in and checking out materials, registering patrons, and collecting fines
Assist students with making tutoring appointments and provide information about tutoring services
Support access services functions, including processing library materials, interlibrary loan, and document delivery
Aid students in locating and using library materials, and respond to directional and research-related inquiries
Maintain accurate records, perform inventory, and verify the proper location of library materials
Provide exceptional customer service to students, faculty, and staff, and apply best practices in equity and inclusion
Requirements:
Demonstrated ability to work accurately with names, numbers, codes, and symbols
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Reliable transportation to campus locations (if assigned to work at multiple sites)
Ability to work evenings and weekends as business needs dictate
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
Familiarity with online catalog, copy machine, and/or computers
Demonstrated experience in an academic or public library setting
Basic understanding of the Koha online catalog or previous experience with an online circulation system
Experience with tutoring, tutoring software, or online platforms
