About the Role: As a General School Assistant, you will provide instructional and non-instructional support, assisting school staff in their focus on instructional initiatives. Your duties will include supporting teachers with materials and supplies, monitoring student progress, and working with individual students or small groups. You will also participate in professional development and training, collaborate with other staff members, and maintain confidentiality with student and employee records.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide instructional and non-instructional support to teachers and students
Assist with materials, supplies, and copying
Monitor and support student progress in a classroom setting
Work with individual students or small groups as directed by a certificated staff member
Record observations and data regarding student progress
Participate in professional development and training
Maintain confidentiality with student and employee records
Requirements:
High school graduation or equivalent
ETS Paraeducator Assessment, Associate of Arts degree, or 72 quarter credits/48 semester credits at an institution of higher education
Basic academic knowledge in core content areas, with a focus on math and reading
Understanding of child development, cultural and racial diversity, and basic safety and emergency procedures
Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to follow oral and written directions
Ability to work in a team setting, with multicultural sensitivity and the ability to effectively and collaboratively work with diverse populations
