Location: Iselin, NJ Salary: $105.00 USD Hourly - $113.00 USD Hourly Description: Senior Software Engineer (Contingent Workforce) - Iselin, NJ About the Role In this contingent role, you will serve as a senior engineering consultant supporting large-scale, highly complex initiatives across multiple technical domains. You will partner closely with engineering and business leaders to shape long-term strategies, design innovative solutions, and address challenges requiring deep technical expertise, creativity, and advanced analytical thinking. You will collaborate with senior stakeholders, influence architectural decisions, and contribute to enterprise-wide engineering initiatives that demand both vision and hands-on technical execution.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a subject-matter expert, providing technical leadership for complex engineering programs spanning multiple systems and business areas. Evaluate and solve uniquely complex technical challenges using advanced analytical and inductive reasoning. Deliver scalable, long-term technology solutions aligned with organizational strategy. Advise senior leadership on engineering best practices, emerging technologies, and solution design. Partner with cross-functional teams to drive engineering excellence and ensure successful project execution.
Technical Expertise Backend Engineering
• Spring Boot 3.x
• Spring Security 6.x
• Spring Core, Spring MVC, Spring AOP, Spring Actuator
• Spring ORM, Spring JPA, Spring REST
• Microservices design and development using Spring Boot 3.x and Spring Cloud
• Java 17+, including multithreading, generics, and event-driven programming
• Advanced ORM using Hibernate 6.x and JPA
• Relational database experience with Oracle 12c
Frontend Engineering
• Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), Bootstrap 5, jQuery, Ajax
• Angular 16 development: components, services, directives, pipes, routing, and route guards
• Experience building responsive, modern, user-centered web applications
Web Services
• RESTful and SOAP service development using Spring Rest Controller, JAX-RS, JAX-WS
Additional Skills Application Deployment
• Deploying on Apache Tomcat 10.x, JBoss EAP 7.x, IBM WebSphere 9.x
Cloud & Containerization
• Hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS), Azure App Services, and Google Cloud Platform
• Docker & Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration
CI/CD & DevOps
• Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Maven, Gradle, SonarQube
• Strong understanding of automated build and deployment pipelines
Architecture & Design
• MVC architecture and J2EE design patterns
• Strong system-design thinking for scalable, distributed systems
Preferred Experience
• Ansible, Python, shell scripting
• Networking fundamentals (F5, AVI, etc.)
Soft Skills
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively in Agile/Scrum environments
Required Qualifications
7+ years of engineering experience, or equivalent combination of work experience, consulting, training, military service, or education.
