IT Support Engineer (MSP) with Cybersecurity & GRC Experience

We are a growing Managed Services & Cybersecurity provider seeking an IT Systems Engineer / Cybersecurity & GRC Specialist to support our SMB clients with ongoing IT operations, cybersecurity management, cloud administration, vulnerability management, and governance/compliance initiatives. This is NOT a full-time position. This is a 1099 contractor role, hired as needed, with the opportunity for long-term work as our company grows. You must be willing to use our company branding for all customer-facing communication—including ticket responses, emails, and documentation—to ensure a consistent and professional client experience. Responsibilities You will support a broad range of managed services, cybersecurity services, and digital transformation initiatives, including: IT Operations & Support Provide remote IT service desk and user support (L1–L3) Perform proactive monitoring and endpoint/workstation management Support Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace administration Assist with onboarding/offboarding and identity lifecycle tasks Participate in IT asset management and procurement support Cybersecurity & Vulnerability Management Implement and manage endpoint protection, email security, and threat detection Perform vulnerability management, including scanning, analysis, and remediation planning Conduct security audits and risk assessments for client environments Support phishing awareness training and end-user security education Help maintain cloud security monitoring for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace Assist with web filtering, MFA assessments, and policy enforcement Participate in incident response preparedness, continuity planning, and tabletop exercises Support dark web monitoring, penetration testing coordination, and threat modeling Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) Draft and refine IT and cybersecurity policies (security, privacy, cloud, SaaS) Contribute to GRC consulting tasks, including compliance alignment with ISO 27001, NIST CSF, CIS Controls, etc. Assist with third-party vendor risk management (TPRM) Participate in audits, documentation, and control assessments Support vCISO and cybersecurity leadership initiatives Assist with business risk management and vendor security evaluations Cloud, Infrastructure & Add-On Services Support cloud and multi-cloud migrations, backup strategies, and disaster recovery planning Assist with server support, virtualization improvements, and network optimization Participate in Wi-Fi heatmap surveys, wireless deployments, and infrastructure enhancements Support endpoint management, MDM, and modernization initiatives Contribute to automation, AI-driven analytics, predictive insights, and process optimization Assist with app innovation, DevSecOps workflows, and digital transformation engagements Strategic & Advisory Support Provide guidance during Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) Support strategic planning, technology roadmapping, and leadership advisory efforts Contribute to client recommendations and ongoing improvement initiatives What We’re Looking For Experience supporting SMB clients or working in an MSP environment (preferred) Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, vulnerability management, and security audits Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, endpoint security, and cloud security Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF, CIS Controls, or SOC-related practices Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills Ability to work independently, manage tasks proactively, and handle dynamic client needs Commitment to long-term collaboration as we scale Why Work With Us We are a security-focused MSP with expanding services across IT operations, cloud, cybersecurity, and GRC.
