The Inventory Management Assistant at Dollar General plays a crucial role in the distribution center by efficiently selecting, packing, and preparing products for shipment to stores. This role requires accuracy, speed, and attention to detail to ensure that merchandise is packed correctly and delivered on time. Inventory Management Assistants must follow company procedures and maintain safety standards while meeting daily performance targets.

Key Responsibilities:

Order Picking:
• Properly select products from storage areas based on pick tickets or order lists.
• Confirm the precise number of items is chosen and double-check the specifics of the products like dimensions, category, and positioning.
• Implement handheld devices or barcode scanners to track the movement of items.

Packing:
• Securely pack merchandise into containers or cartons, ensuring items are adequately protected and arranged for transport.
• Securely seal and mark packages in compliance with guidelines to guarantee their safe shipment.
• Improve packing techniques to decrease shipping costs and prevent potential damage to items during the delivery process.

Inventory Management:
• Support in arranging and ensuring precise stock quantities are upheld in the warehouse.
• Notify superiors of any anomalies in inventory or products that are damaged.
• Restock inventory appropriately to ensure products are available for future purchases.

Loading & Staging:
• Transport packed orders to the designated staging or shipping area by utilizing forklifts or pallet jacks.
• Support the loading of trucks with prepared orders as needed.

Quality Control:
• Finalize the verification process on selected and assembled orders to maintain accuracy and quality standards.
• Scrutinize packaging materials and products to confirm their adherence to company norms.

Safety and Compliance:
• Enforce safety measures and adhere to organizational policies to prevent accidents and sustain a safe work environment.
• Ensure the proper and safe use of tools and equipment in the warehouse, including forklifts and pallet jacks, based on your training.
• Notify supervisors of hazards or unsafe conditions for quick resolution.

Efficiency and Productivity:
• Accomplish or surpass daily productivity targets by efficiently carrying out designated tasks.
• Participate in activities aimed at refining warehouse operations and streamlining workflows.

Required Qualifications:
• Securing a high school diploma or its corresponding replacement is necessary.
• Candidates with a history of working in warehouse operations or a comparable role are preferred.
• Demonstrate regular proficiency in the lifting, carrying, and shifting of goods up to 50 lbs.
• Precise attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Basic grasp of mathematical concepts and reading strategies.
• Expertise in managing the demands of a fast-paced work environment and achieving productivity goals.

Work Environment:
• Dealing with varying temperatures in a warehouse setting.
• Available shifts include both full-time and part-time options, with the potential for extra hours as required.
