Internship - Psychology / Social Services
THIS INTERNSHIP REQUIRES THAT ALL APPLICANTS MUST BE FULL-TIME RESIDENTS OF MAINE OR ATTEND A COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY IN MAINE.

Spurwink is a non-profit organization that responds to community needs by providing behavioral health care, substance use disorder services, and support services for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, as well as their families.
Internship Details:
ā¢ Start Date: Monday, January 5, 2026
ā¢ Monday, January 5th through Thursday, January 8th will be fully in-person.
ā¢ Remainder of internship is hybrid or remote, depending on where you are attending school.
ā¢ End Date: Varies from the end of February to March
ā¢ Hours per week: 8 to 15 hours
ā¢ Schedule: We will work around your classes to meet the required hours.
Responsibilities of the Psychology and Social Services Department:
The Outpatient and Community Services department oversees the administrative side of all Spurwink Services programming, including behavioral health needs, mental illness, substance use disorder, and intellectual developmental disabilities. The department manages the systems/processes involved in behavioral health care, including the referral process, translation services, client satisfaction surveys, and follow-ups.
Intern Responsibilities:
As an Intern, you will be able to assist the Outpatient and Community Services team with the diverse work of their department. This internship is administration only; there will be no patient contact. Spurwink fully commits to DEI&B (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging). As part of the OCS team, this internship will be focused on a DEI&B project.
Requirements:
ā¢ Ability to commute to the Greater Portland area during the first full week of January.
ā¢ Have an interest in Psychology/ Social Services and professional development.
ā¢ Experience with Microsoft 365.
ā¢ Create a capstone project sharing educational goals, skills learned, and your experiences.
ā¢ Attend an online weekly meeting with a supervisor.
ā¢ Have an interest in working for a non-profit organization.
Qualifications:
ā¢ Candidates must exhibit enthusiasm for the work in the department and the mission of Spurwink Services.
ā¢ Must have strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and critical thinking skills.
