For every child, hope The purpose of the internship is to support the Inclusive and Sustainable Operations team's strategy of improving environmental sustainability and inclusion across UNICEF global offices through: 1) creating innovative initiatives relevant to behavior change, 2) helping with the design, drafting and proofreading communication materials and data reports related to UNICEF's internal sustainability and accessibility improvement of its premises, and 3) creating data visualizations using various media and infographics. A good degree of creativity and artistic ability as well as good communication skills are required for this internship. A background and proficiency in sustainability are strongly preferred. How can you make a difference? Under the supervision of the Administrative Manager of the Inclusive and Sustainable Operations Unit Unit, Division of Finance & Administrative Services, the incumbent will be responsible for: - Synthesize large volume of data and information gathered from offices and design the Environmental Footprint and Accessibility Assessment annual report. - Supporting the implementation of the behaviour change and communications strategy for sustainability and accessibility, and design of visual appealing materials to support the various campaigns develop throughout the year. - Providing new ideas to support the Inclusive and Sustainable Operations team's communication plan and new communication and awareness raising campaigns. - Preparing, or assisting with the preparation and design of all types of communication materials, including internal web pages, internal news stories, newsletter and other resources. Duration/Start Date The intern is expected to work part-time for an initial period of 6 months. Start Date: October 16th, 2023 Duty station The internship is based in UNICEF's New York headquarters; however, the work will be conducted in a remote capacity. Travel is not anticipated, and individuals residing outside the United States will be considered, provided they are within a compatible time zone. To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… Education: The intern should have a university degree and be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or Ph.D. degree programme or have graduated within the past two years. in the area of communications, visual communication, graphic design and design for Sustainability. Excellent academic performance, as demonstrated by academic records. Language: The intern must be fluent in English. Native English speaker is desirable. Be proficient in at least one of UNICEF's working languages: English, French or Spanish is an asset. Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photo Shop, Canva, PowerPoint, MailChimp, Survey Monkey, Menti, and similar tools is required. Functional competencies: Analytical thinking: Demonstrates capacity for analytical thinking, collecting information and drawing relevant conclusions. Creativity and ability to use innovative data visualization techniques and tools to communicate information clearly and efficiently in an engaging manner. Knowledge on video production, editing, and storytelling, encompassing tasks such as shooting, editing, scriptwriting, multimedia integration, quality control, and collaboration to create engaging video content that aligns with project objectives and industry standards is an asset. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Personal competencies: Demonstrates interest in environmental issues, human development/humanitarian work, especially in an international context. Eligibility Requirements To be considered for an internship, applicants must meet the following requirements: Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or Ph.D. degree programme or have graduated within the past two years. If located in the US, have a valid US student visa and be able to work legally for the duration of the internship. Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records. Have proof of medical insurance covering their time at the duty station. Have no immediate relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office. Have no other relatives in the line of authority which the intern will report to.
