This is a dynamic role that requires both project-based technical expertise and a passion for system improvement, mentorship, and coordination across multiple disciplines.
Your Core Responsibilities
Project Leadership & CollaborationSupport Team Leaders in coordinating with multidisciplinary consultant teams (Structural, MEP, Landscape, Lighting, etc.)Take ownership of project design and development deliverables, ensuring timely, high-quality outputLiaise with external consultants, contractors, architects of record, and clientsBuild and maintain strong working relationships across internal teams and project stakeholders

Internal Leadership & CommunicationCollaborate effectively and demonstrate strong leadership capabilitiesActively participate in office initiatives and maintain alignment with SAOTA's values, systems, and code of conductStay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies to continually enhance project execution

Technical & Design Excellence
Technical AptitudeProvide technical solutions across all project phases: from Concept Design to ConstructionProduce accurate, detailed documentation including drawings, models, images, and technical packages aligned with the design briefOffer project-wide technical support and guidance where requiredMentor junior staff in areas such as coordination, advanced materials, and sophisticated building systems

System Implementation & InnovationDemonstrate deep understanding of design technologies and softwareImplement and maintain internal technical systems to streamline delivery and ensure qualityActively contribute to developing and refining internal tools, platforms, and workflows

Design InterpretationInterpret design briefs and contribute meaningfully to conceptual directionSupport the team in delivering full architectural services, from presentation material to contractual documentationCreate high-quality drawings, 3D models, renders, videos, and visual presentationsEnsure all deliverables align with project design language and SAOTA standards

SAOTA Systems & Quality AssuranceUphold and apply SAOTA’s systems, standards, and structured document management protocolsEnsure project folders, records, and documentation are accurate and up to dateParticipate in internal design forums and contribute to continual improvement in project delivery

Who We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications & Experience:A degree or diploma in Architecture or Architectural TechnologyMinimum 5 years’ professional experience, including 2 years in multidisciplinary projects (South Africa or internationally)Proficient in SAOTA’s core design software (e.g. Revit, Adobe Suite, AutoCAD, etc.)


Essential Skills:Deep understanding of the architectural production process and file managementStrong problem-solving and design-thinking capabilitiesAbility to accurately interpret instructions and present design decisionsClear communicator with a collaborative, proactive attitudeComfortable working in a multicultural, fast-paced, and deadline-driven environmentAble to manage confidential information and work under pressureAvailable to travel if needed
