Internal Audit & Compliance Manager

Dragonfli Group is seeking an Internal Audit & Compliance Manager Consultant to support a client engagement with a large municipal energy and utilities enterprise. This consultant will design and execute an internal audit and compliance assurance program that strengthens risk management, operational reliability, and governance maturity. The consultant will lead audit planning, scoping, testing, reporting, and follow-up processes, while partnering with client leadership to reinforce effective internal controls and compliance structures. Preference given to candidates located within the PST time zone. Requirements: • 10+ years of experience in Internal Audit, Compliance Assurance, or risk-based auditing leadership. • Demonstrated ability to build or significantly enhance an internal audit function including audit planning, risk scoping, testing methodologies, and reporting processes. • Experience evaluating enterprise risks, compliance requirements, and control effectiveness across complex operational environments. • Ability to translate audit findings into actionable remediation and governance improvements. • Background in consulting or advising clients in regulated or highly operational sectors (energy/utilities preferred). • Experience presenting to executive leadership and managing multi-stakeholder environments. Skill(s): • Strong command of audit methodology including planning, sampling, testing, documentation, and reporting. • Ability to design and execute compliance assurance frameworks aligned with enterprise risk programs. • Analytical skill in identifying process gaps, control weaknesses, and operational risks. • Excellent communication and presentation abilities for executive-level reporting. • Strong organizational skills for running parallel audits and maintaining documentation. • Ability to coach client teams, transfer knowledge, and support long-term capability building.
