Role Summary/Purpose:

Synchrony is seeking a motivated Integration Engineer to join our integration team dedicated to supporting OnePay, a Synchrony partner serving millions of customers in a new, first-of-its-kind credit card program for Walmart.

In this role, you will contribute as a key technical team member supporting the design, development, and maintenance of scalable, reliable integration solutions that facilitate the OnePay partnership.

Working closely with technical leaders, architects, product owners, and engineers, you will help ensure API performance, security, and seamless interoperability between Synchrony and OnePay systems. The role provides a valuable opportunity to develop hands-on integration expertise and grow technical leadership capabilities in a collaborative agile environment.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Act as a technical contributor within the OnePay Integration Agile team, supporting development, deployment, and maintenance of APIs and partner integrations.
• Collaborate with team members and architects to design and implement reliable and scalable integration components aligned with architectural standards.
• Assist in translating business requirements into technical tasks and deliverables.
• Follow and promote best practices around API development, security, monitoring, and error handling.
• Support automation of testing and deployment pipelines within the CI/CD framework.
• Monitor API operations and assist in troubleshooting integration issues, escalating complex problems to senior team members.
• Document integration designs, data flows, and operational procedures to maintain team knowledge base.
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support other duties or projects as assigned by the AVP Integration Engineer or Agile leadership.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field AND 2-4 years’ experience across multiple IT areas OR 6 years’ experience across multiple IT areas (in lieu of degree)
• Experience developing and supporting RESTful APIs and microservices using Java Spring Boot or equivalent frameworks.
• Familiarity with testing tools such as JUnit, Postman, or JMeter.
• Basic knowledge of front-end JavaScript frameworks (React JS, Angular JS) is a plus.
• Exposure to cloud platforms or PaaS environments such as AWS or Pivotal Cloud Foundry.
• Awareness of API management platforms like Apigee or similar tools.
• Understanding of secure API design principles and scalable architecture fundamentals.
• Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
• Experience working in Agile Scrum or Kanban teams; eagerness to develop leadership skills.
• Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required

Desired Characteristics:
• Interest or limited experience in fintech/payments or consumer financing systems integration.
• Analytical thinker with a proactive and solution-oriented approach to challenges.
• Willingness to learn from and work closely with senior engineers and architects.
• Familiarity with API gateways and good security and reliability practices for integrations.
• Enthusiasm for staying updated on emerging integration technologies and industry trends.
• Exposure to event-driven or message-based architectures is beneficial but not required.

Grade/Level: 09

The salary range for this position is 85,000.00 - 140,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:
• You must be 18 years or older
• You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
• You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
• You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
• New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
