Purpose of Assignment:


The purpose of this consultancy is to support the development, refinement, and rollout of nutrition risk analysis tools, protocols, and guidance, strengthen capacities with key partner agencies in alignment with the Integrated Phase Classification (IPC) Acute Malnutrition methodology. The assignment strengthens UNICEF’s engagement with the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) Global Support Unit (GSU) and the Global Nutrition Working Group of the IPC, improving global standards for malnutrition risk monitoring, early warning and action.

The consultant will:

1.Provide technical development support to the execution and institutionalization of the IPC AMN approach in close collaboration with GPD Nutrition, OSE, and EMOPS and country teams.


2.Engage with the IPC Nutrition Working Group and Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to ensure global best practices are promoted, the nutrition sector and UNICEF’s technical positions well represented.


3.Support the development of a landscape exercise on modelling of acute malnutrition that will help to systematically map and assess existing modelling approaches, clarify their assumptions and limitations, and identify opportunities to strengthen predictive analytics and their application for early warning, IPC AMN analysis, and anticipatory

Minimum requirements:(Qualifications/Experience/ Knowledge/Expertise/Skills)



  • Education: Master's degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Humanitarian Management

  • Work Experience: Minimum 10-year experience in nutrition in emergencies

  • 5 years UN experience, preferably UNICEF

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working on Nutrition Information Systems in emergency contexts.

  • Skills (optional): Experience in the IPC Acute Malnutrition

  • Excellent communication, influencing, negotiation and problem-solving skills



  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English

  • Desirables: French language skills Another UN language an asset
