What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Provide instructional, behavioral, and social-emotional support services to students with disabilities
- Assist with the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
- Deliver academic interventions and proactive behavioral supports to enhance student learning
- Collaborate with educators and specialists to ensure effective IEP implementation across settings
- Assist students with personal hygiene and daily living activities as needed
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school diploma or general education development (GED) program certificate
- Experience working with children with disabilities and managing externalizing behaviors
- Ability to understand and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Must earn and maintain training in crisis management and other required certifications
- Ability to relate effectively with students, staff, parents, and community members
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in a special education or instructional assistant role
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices
- Familiarity with data collection methods for IEPs and BIPs
- Proven ability to problem-solve in stressful situations
- Training in restorative practices or academic research-based interventions
