Job Summary
As an Instructional Aide at Gallatin County Schools, you will play a vital role in supporting the instructional program by providing individualized support to students, assisting with classroom activities, and contributing to the overall success of our educational community. Key Responsibilities
Implement instructional techniques and learning activities as directed by the supervising teacher or Principal
Participate as an integral member of the remediation instructional team, providing targeted support to students
Administer, score, and record achievement and diagnostic tests as recommended by the teacher
Prepare and organize materials and equipment for instruction, and instruct pupils individually or in small groups
Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes
Distribute and collect workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction
Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips
Work with individual students or small groups of students in the classroom or computer lab to reinforce learning of material or skills
Check lab work and notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and makeup work as assigned by the teacher
Assist with the documentation of pupil progress on a continuous basis
Perform other duties as assigned by the Teacher and/or Principal or school center head
Essential Qualifications
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Passing Score on the Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment or 48 college hours
Demonstrated competent language skills, with the ability to read and understand meanings of words and ideas associated with them and to use them effectively
Successful experience working with children, individually or in groups
Participated in program training as specified by the Kentucky Department of Education and local district
Program-specific certifications/training (as required)
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
Previous experience as an instructional aide or in a related role
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other staff members
Skills and Competencies
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced educational setting
Basic computer skills and ability to learn educational software
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
