Assignment of Work and Travel:This is a remote access assignment. The Candidate will work remotely daily and will remotely access customer systems and therein use approved customer provided communications systems. Travel is not required; however, the candidate may be required to attend onsite client meetings as requested.This program is a transformative initiative by the customer aimed at modernizing and streamlining access to data and services through secure, reliable, and scalable APIs. As a member of the team, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and supporting API solutions that empower veterans, partners, and internal stakeholders to access critical information and services efficiently.This role provides technical leadership across Microservices and agile teams, guiding architecture, code quality, reliability, and scalability within a cloud-native microservices environment. It advises executives on strategic technology decisions while overseeing critical deployments, operational readiness, on-call support, and risk-sensitive activities such as secret key rotations and system health monitoring.Responsibilities and Duties (Included but not limited to):Oversee technical direction of 32 microservices across 6 agile teamsParticipate in architecture and code reviews of Springboot and Ruby microservices as well as AWS Elastic Kubernetes YAML configurationsAdvise on improvements to health and DORA monitors and metrics Identify and recommend solutions to address scalability, reliability, and availability Advise executives on strategic technology decisions related to microservices and team capacityOversee major deployments and high-risk secret key rotationsOversee on-call operations
Requirements
15+ years of software engineering experience with a preference for Java, Spring Boot, and Ruby expertiseExperience with DevOps including CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and version control systemsExperience operating in a 24/7 environment 99.999 SLA environmentExperience with public-facing APIsExperience with complex backend data integrationsExperience with monitoring tools such as Data Dog, Kibana Strong executive communication skillsAPI Programming: MasteryDevOps Engineering: AdvancedDevOps-AWS: AdvancedGitHub: AdvancedJava Spring Framework: MasteryUS Citizenship required due to clearance requirement Strong organizational skillsPreferred Qualifications and Core Competencies:Docker: IntermediateKubernetes: IntermediateOctopus Deploy: IntermediateActive VA Public TrustPrior experience supporting federal agenciesCertifications in cloud technologies, API development, or secure software engineeringExperience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.Prior, successful experience working in a remote environmentSuccessful IGS employees embody the following Core Values:Integrity, Honesty, and Ethics: We conduct our business with the highest level of ethics.
