Infra Lead - Thorin

Thorin is an AI startup born out of 8VC’s "Build", focused on solving AI-human coordination by analyzing organizational email to map and automate recurring business workflows. With backing and product vision from Joe Lonsdale, Thorin is 8VC’s latest incubation, following the success of Affinity, Addepar, and other unicorns.We're looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join as a founding team member and help us scale from our current team. As part of the early technical core, this role comes with significant ownership, equity, and a clear path toward engineering leadership for the right candidate.Key Responsibilities:Architect and deploy backend infrastructure to cloud platforms with a strong focus on security, scalability, and enterprise-grade reliability.Lead infrastructure development and enterprise product implementation.Own sprint planning and conduct regular one-on-ones (tech lead capacity, not people management).Build systems capable of supporting complex organizational data and AI workflow automation.Ideal Candidate Profile:10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with deep expertise in backend infrastructure, distributed systems, or DevOps.Has served as a technical lead—guiding projects and mentoring engineers.Comfortable with early-stage ambiguity and excited to help shape product direction and architecture.Strong fundamentals in computer science and experience working in security-conscious, enterprise software environments.Bonus: Exposure to applied ML systems or interest in learning modern AI stacks.About the Team:You’ll work closely with a tight-knit founding team, design partners, and directly with Joe Lonsdale, who remains deeply involved in vision, strategy, and hiring.Expect high agency, rapid iteration, and the opportunity to build something foundational in the AI productivity space.
