Job Description
ā¢ Plan, develop, and implement infection control program in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern such requirements in nursing care facilities.
ā¢ Verify that the facility is in compliance with current CDC, CDPH, LACDPH, OSHA, and local regulations concerning infection control or standard/universal precautions.
ā¢ Consult in the development and implementation of the Infection Control Program and protocols.
ā¢ Develop, maintain, and periodically update infection control precautions and aseptic techniques that successfully correct problem areas.
ā¢ Implement and manage the facility's antibiotic-stewardship program
ā¢ Perform COVID-19 related monitoring, contact tracing and reporting
ā¢ Coordinate COVID-19 testing and vaccination
ā¢ Develop Infection Prevention and Control [IPC] Training. Assess learning needs and develop training for the facility residents and Healthcare Personnel [HCP]. Create educational goals, objectives, and strategies using learning principles and available educational tools and technology.
ā¢ Conduct adherence monitoring to: Provide feedback to Healthcare Personnel [HCP] and reinforce training concepts. Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and modify them if needed.
ā¢ Directs and coordinates compliance with facilities Antibiotic Stewardship Program and Infection Control Policies and Procedures.
ā¢ Prepare monthly summaries of all resident/personnel infections, corrective action taken, and the results of the corrective action. Submit copies to the Executive Director and Chief Clinical Officer.
ā¢ Prepare summaries of special investigations on the occurrence of nosocomial and community-acquired infections
ā¢ Maintain a written record of all Acquired infections.
ā¢ Participates in clinical meeting; reviews new admissions, new orders, labs/diagnostics, etc. to coordinate compliance with infection control policies and practices.
ā¢ Assist support services in developing, implementing, and conducting in-service training programs relative to infection control.
ā¢ Utilizes epidemiologic principles to conduct surveillance activities and investigations.
ā¢ Must possess the ability to engage tactfully with regulators, facility personnel, residents, visitors, and the general public.
ā¢ Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in an understandable manner.
Requirements
ā¢ Specialized training in infection prevention and control related to long-term care
ā¢ Certification in Infection Control from CDC
ā¢ Prior clinical experience in long-term care nursing
ā¢ Working knowledge of the principles of epidemiology and infectious diseases
ā¢ Current and active California LVN or RN License
ā¢ Must be authorized to work in the United States
Shift
ā¢ Monday - Friday
ā¢ Weekends/ Evenings on call
