Industrial Designer - Central Garden & Pet - Neptune City, NJ - work from home job Company: Central Garden & Pet Job description: The Industrial Designer supports the Blue Sky team with sketches, concept drawings, and final product drawings. This position will also support product development by performing different modeling techniques to represent future products, including CAD and 3D printing. Product development will also include researching customer feedback on both TFH products as well as competitor products in the marketplace. The outcome of the work will be the development of new product lines to be brought to market. The ability to respond positively to constructive criticism and be adaptive to emerging information is both expected and required. Measures of Success: • Responsible for producing sketches, concept drawings, product renderings, etc. • Contributes to the creation of new product concepts & market segment suggestions • Responsible for inspiration boards based on projects requesting design • Performs the 3D model printing tasks that includes: converting .stp files to .stl files, setting up 3D printer communication, model tray layout, cleaning support from models, ordering supplies, etc. • Paint 3D models to accurately represent future products • Responsible for constructing thorough R&D packages, which include industrial control drawings, product measurements, texture references, product functions, and more. • Assists in determining color specifications for products in development. • Create clay models based on Illustrations/ Drawings to help communicate concept. • Examine CAD drawings, clays, 3D models, & product samples by providing feedback and required revisions • Aid team in gathering competitive research, online consumer inputs, reviews on existing products and more. • Organizes research information in a logical and clear format to aid in current & future product concepts and for team review. • Actively participates in Consumer Product Ideation Workshops drawing product concepts as consumers’/colleagues describes their “needs” and/or “ideas”. • Creates and assembles Focus Group related materials such as store sets, sample boxes, and renderings • Assist in the ideation and creation of commercial video production and related tasks including script creation and concept storyboarding Ideal Candidate Attributes • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator • Team player who responds well to constructive criticism • Takes initiative in completing tasks to continue product development • Good eye for details during design and product evaluation • A natural sense of curiosity to explore and expand knowledge of Pet industry and related information • Ability to adapt, learn and multi-task • Creates product designs with a purpose in mind • Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, and multidisciplinary environment • Communicates professionally with multiple departments and personnel • Knowledge of 3D programs such as Rhino is a preferred • Additional experience/knowledge in Marketing and Business operations is preferred • Knowledge of video production/editing software such as Adobe AfterEffects is a plus • Ideally, candidate will incrementally learn & apply knowledge of the business as a whole and apply critical thinking and good judgement At Central Garden & Pet (NASDAQ: CENT and CENTA), we believe home is at the center of our lives, and our employees are driven by our purpose to nurture happy and healthy homes.
