Position Summary:

The PGP College Bridge Coordinator will support the implementation of the Petey Greene Program (PGP) College Bridge program at SCI Phoenix. The program aims at helping students to develop the writing, reading, and numeracy skills necessary to pursue employment and post-secondary education while fostering a sense of educational self-efficacy and self-confidence.

The College Bridge program consists of a math course and a writing, reading, and critical thinking course. Both courses are taught by instructors recruited by the PGP among faculty and advanced graduate students from local colleges and universities, supported by volunteer tutors, who are typically undergraduate students and members of the community.

The PGP College Bridge Coordinator will be responsible for assisting PGP staff in recruiting and managing the College Bridge volunteers. Prior to the beginning of the semester, the PGP College Bridge Coordinator will select prospective tutors, vetting and interviewing applicants in collaboration with the PGP Philadelphia Regional Manager. During the semester, the PGP College Bridge Coordinator will monitor student and volunteer attendance, working with PGP staff to provide debrief opportunities for volunteers. They will conduct regular virtual check-ins with tutors and instructors and facilitate the exchange of information between the two groups. Additionally, they will help track tutor and instructor feedback to ensure that it is submitted in a timely manner.

This is a remote position with occasional trips to the Department of Corrections facility in Collegeville, PA required. This is a three-year, grant-funded position and subject to grant funding.
