Job Overview As a Virtual Special Education Teacher at Menta Tech Academy, you will have the freedom and ability to educate a small classroom of students in a self-contained virtual setting. You'll be responsible for teaching all subjects, providing differentiated learning, and creating a virtual social-emotional learning environment that promotes student engagement and success. Key Responsibilities Teach all subjects in a virtual classroom setting, utilizing engaging and inquiry-based academics. Provide differentiated learning experiences tailored to the diverse needs of students. Collaborate with staff, including curriculum and clinical staff, to yield positive results for students. Personalize learning experiences to meet the unique needs of each student. Create a virtual social-emotional learning environment that fosters student connection and community. Work with a virtual classroom size of around 10 students, allowing for personalized attention and guidance. Gain support from on-campus staff, including teachers, administrators, curriculum staff, clinical staff, and various support staff. Qualifications and Requirements To be successful in this role, you must possess: A current, issued IL PEL (Professional Educator's License) with LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist I) certification. Flexibility in teaching multiple grade levels as student populations change. The ability to virtually teach a classroom of students within all basic instructional areas. Experience working with youth with emotional/behavioral/academic difficulties. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to speak and write clearly and persuasively. The ability to be flexible, work in teams, and creatively problem-solve. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience with virtual or online teaching platforms. Knowledge of social-emotional learning principles and P.B.I.S. structures. Background working with students with diverse needs and abilities.
