As a Software Engineer with a Data Science focus on the ASE Performance Architecture (Data & Tools) team, you'll have the opportunity to drive results, define an industry, and leave a lasting impact. About the Role We're seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Software Engineer to join our remote team. As a key member of the performance team, you'll work with a diverse set of technologies to develop tools for performance observability, benchmarking, and analysis of products within Apple Services, such as the App Store, Apple Music, Apple TV+, and Podcasts. Your expertise in software development, data science, and statistical analysis will enable you to design, implement, and iteratively improve platforms and tools that inform executives and developers across the organization. Key Responsibilities Develop data science-driven tools to enhance product performance using statistical and data science methods. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and deploy advanced analytical products. Translate high-level requirements into product definitions, balancing pragmatism and innovation. Work with a broad set of technologies, including Python, Scala, and high-level programming languages. Build interactive data visualizations and reports using tools like D3, ggplot2, and other relevant technologies. Develop and maintain data pipelines, ensuring data quality and integrity. Mentor and be mentored by peers, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you'll need: A Master's or Ph.D. in Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field. Proficiency in statistics, including A/B experimentation and distribution analysis. Software development experience using Python, Scala, or other high-level programming languages. Experience with building interactive data visualizations and reports. Knowledge of NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra), object storages (e.g., S3), and flat files (e.g., Parquet). A track record of building data science solutions, including novel analysis or methodologies for multivariate time series data. Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams. Strong organizational and self-motivation skills, with the ability to advance multiple priorities simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following skills and experience will give you a competitive edge: Solid understanding of data engineering production processes, including unit tests and data pipelines. Experience with data processing and modeling using Spark. Performance analysis and optimization expertise. Proficiency in React and front-end development. Experience with anomaly detection and related techniques. The base pay range for this role is between $166,600 and $296,300, depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
