About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Depth Test & Calibration Engineer to join our team, focusing on the research, design, development, test, and qualification of camera hardware for Apple products. This position offers a unique blend of technical challenge and creative freedom, requiring a strong and diverse skillset in areas such as image processing, software development, and mechanical engineering. As a key member of our Depth Test Engineering group, you will be responsible for designing and developing the hardware and software that calibrates and tests the imaging components used in our products.

Key Responsibilities

Develop new testers and critical optical components to meet design requirements for calibration and test, ensuring that our camera systems meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
Design, implement, debug, and develop methods to calibrate imaging systems, as well as metrics to quantify their performance in factories around the world.
Analyze volume data to provide guidance on engineering decisions, collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize our camera systems for exceptional user experience.
Travel to vendors and partner facilities (up to 10-15% of the time) during new product development to ensure seamless integration and testing of our camera hardware.


Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, you will need a strong foundation in image processing, software development, and mechanical engineering, as well as excellent problem-solving and optimization skills. The following qualifications are essential:

BS degree in a relevant field (such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Optical Engineering) and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
Experience in image processing or software development, with a strong understanding of imaging systems and camera technology.
Programming experience with Matlab and C++ is preferred, as well as experience in lens characterization methodology and calibration.

Additionally, the following skills and competencies are highly desirable:

Exceptional mechanical, hardware, and software problem-solving and optimization skills.
Self-motivation and a passion for teamwork, with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Experience in camera, depth sensing device, or optical device test and calibration.

Compensation and Benefits
At Apple, we offer a competitive compensation package that includes a base salary range of $175,800 to $312,200, depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, you will be eligible for:
