Job Overview
We are currently seeking a skilled and certified School Year Tutor to work with our students in Paterson, NJ. As a tutor with New Jersey Tutoring Corps Inc., you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the educational journey of our students. You will work closely with small groups of students, typically in groups of 1-5, to build on their existing math and literacy skills. Key Responsibilities

Engage with students in grades K-8 to build on existing mathematics and/or literacy skills
Complete daily records on student progress and site needs using the tools provided
Use data to drive instruction and inform teaching practices
Communicate regularly with your site coordinator to provide optimum learning experiences for students
Participate in coaching from an instructional coach to enhance teaching skills and strategies
Use an asset-based approach in working with students, focusing on their strengths and abilities
Be responsive and work collaboratively with other tutors and site staff to ensure a supportive and inclusive learning environment
Complete all training and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge


Essential Qualifications

Experience working with young children, preferably in a learning and teaching capacity
Standard certificate, certificate of eligibility (CE), or certificate of eligibility with advanced standing (CEAS) to receive a $40 hourly pay rate
New Jersey Certification of Criminal History (fingerprint form)
Experience with Google Suite functions, including Google Sheets and Forms
Professional skills, including attention to detail, timely and proactive communication, and job preparedness
Reliable transportation to travel to sites


Preferred Qualifications

Genuine desire to work with young children in a teaching capacity, building on foundational skills and closing learning gaps
Strong teaching pedagogy and knowledge of formative and summative data
Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and abilities
Ability to work collaboratively with other educators and staff to achieve common goals
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
