eNGINE is hiring an experienced MQ Administrator to join our infrastructure team, supporting mission-critical systems on mainframe (z/OS) environments. This role plays a vital part in managing and securing MQ services for 12 high-priority applications, ensuring stability and performance across our platforms.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise with IBM MQ on z/OS, strong knowledge of CICS, and the ability to lead during system events, including outages and DR scenarios. Experience updating TLS certificates, managing Queue Sharing Groups, and understanding broader mainframe dependencies is essential for success.
What You'll Do:
• Provide administration and support of MQ infrastructure on mainframe (z/OS) and distributed platforms.
• Work closely with application teams to determine the best MQ configuration for their needs.
• Configure and maintain MQ Queue Sharing Groups, clusters, channel authentication, and certificates on z/OS.
• Handle MQ-related alerts, incidents, upgrades, and disaster recovery (DR) activities.
• Monitor and manage mainframe dependencies, including system IPLs and capacity considerations.
• Interpret CICS logs for troubleshooting and provide proactive system support.
• Participate in change management activities and ensure smooth implementation of infrastructure changes.
• Demonstrate strong ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to operate in high-stakes environments.
What We’re Looking For:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience); advanced degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience administering IBM MQ in z/OS environments.
• Expertise with Queue Sharing Groups, MQ clusters, TLS certificate management, and channel authentication.
• Familiarity with COBOL, C, or Java application integration on the mainframe is a plus.
• Experience supporting MQ DR events, upgrades, and change control processes.
• Ability to interpret and respond to MQ-related alerts and application-level issues.
• Strong understanding of CICS and security exits.
• Prior experience in financial services or securities industries is a plus.
• Strong multitasking and problem-solving skills under pressure.
