IBM Mainframe Operator - Remote (EST Hours) - Current Public Trust Clearance Needed
IBM Mainframe Operator needed for a Contract to Hire opportunity with SOC's client to work Remote (10pm - 6am EST hours). May include some weekend overnight shifts.

Our client is seeking an IBM Mainframe Operator to be a member of their Mainframe Operations Team supporting our customers at a government department. This individual will provide Mainframe Operator Services and manage, operate, and maintain IBM Mainframes.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
ā¢ Serves as an Operator for the mainframe environment, which provides mainframe systems support for -wide customers in an enterprise data center environment.
ā¢ Responsible for the monitoring, operations, integrity, and technical support of the Department's IBM System mainframe environment.
ā¢ Perform systems operation support, including mainframe operator administration and general troubleshooting.
ā¢ Document all platform service processes and procedures and maintain the artifacts I n a document repository.
ā¢ Provide monitoring support for mainframe LPARS across all datacenters. Check all monitors for alarms and ensure tickets are open on selected sites down.
ā¢ Answer incoming calls and direct request to system engineers if problems can't be resolved quickly.
ā¢ Continuously monitor for high priority ticket outages or major issues.
ā¢ Perform status updates to BMC system on any open tickets and follow up with customers.
ā¢ Verify Batch Jobs that are in the queue for execution.
ā¢ Cancel or release and start batch jobs per user request on mainframe LPARs.
ā¢ Assist customers with starting VPS printers.
ā¢ Recycle customer's ONLINEs per request.
ā¢ Release and start system initiators.
ā¢ IPL/Shutdown system LPARs during scheduled mainframe outages or as requested.
Required Qualifications:
ā¢ High School diploma with 4+ years' experience
ā¢ Hands-on knowledge of Mainframe Operations is required for this position
ā¢ Must be proficient logging on the HMCs at both sites
ā¢ Must have knowledge of Basic Operator commands
ā¢ Ability to determine, analyze and resolve software and device related problems
ā¢ Demonstrated communication skills and ability to develop positive relationships with customers, team members, vendor service providers and stakeholders
ā¢ Strong customer service skills
ā¢ Ability to communicate problems and solutions both verbally and in writing to the Government Lead
ā¢ Ability to take direction to troubleshoot problems
ā¢ Ability to work closely with others in a team environment
ā¢ Ability to interface with all customer levels
ā¢ IBM z-series Mainframes, IBM TS7720/7740 VTL
ā¢ Operating Systems: z/OS
ā¢ IBM SW: JES2, TSO, ISPF, SDSF, JCL, FTP, VTAM, SMS, IBM Utilities, Tape Management Software (CA-1), CA-Scheduler
