What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Act as a Construction Cost Estimator for standard construction projects, ensuring technical accuracy in plans and cost estimates
- Prepare estimates using bid-based and cost-based methods, utilizing software tools such as AASHTOWare Preconstruction and Microsoft Excel
- Perform bid analyses to detect unbalanced bids, bid rigging, and plan errors
- Assist senior estimators with change orders and Value Engineering Change Proposals analyses
- Travel to construction sites to observe field operations and gain insights for accurate estimating
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering-related technical experience in simple construction, rehabilitation, maintenance projects, or planning and design of civil engineering projects
- Alternatively, an associate degree in engineering technology combined with 3 years of relevant experience
- At least 12 months of experience as a Transportation Technical Specialist or equivalent qualifications
- Technical experience must be commensurate with the position being filled
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in materials testing related to construction projects
- Familiarity with civil engineering principles and practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Knowledge of project management best practices
