Human Resources Compliance Specialist
Indiana University Bloomington's Human Resources department supports the academic and research mission through various strategic functions. The Human Resources Compliance Specialist will provide guidance on HR policies and compliance issues, monitor changes in employment laws, and develop training focused on HR compliance.ResponsibilitiesAssists with monitoring changes in out-of-state employment and labor laws in collaboration with general counsel's office to ensure that current information is provided to HR Business Partners when employing out-of-stateCommunicates with background check/I-9 vendor to bring forward concerns, monitor issues, fix errors, and to request system improvementsProvides guidance to HR Business Partners, other COEs, enterprise system users, and the HR Operations teams on HR policies and compliance issuesCollaborates with departments on compliance issues that require action and follows up to ensure concerns are resolvedProvides guidance to team members on policy and procedure interpretationDevelops and manages data for reporting and analysis to include various (I-9, PIC) compliance auditsCommunicates policy and compliance programs, processes, and changes in a timely manner across university platformsDevelops and presents various training classes focused on HR complianceStays up-to-date on the external compliance landscape to identify, recommend, and implement changesSkillsBachelor's degree1 year in human resources or related experience that includes a solid background in employment laws and other government compliance regulationsProficient written and verbal communication skillsMaintains a high degree of professionalismDemonstrated time management and priority setting skillsDemonstrates a high commitment to qualityPossesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environmentSeeks to acquire knowledge in area of specialtyHighly thorough and dependableDemonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressureProficiency with technology with the ability to introduce new applications of technology to streamline current workStrong organizational skills to meet strict deadlines, handle multiple issues, and adapt to changing prioritiesDegree in human resources or related field or areaBenefitsComprehensive medical and dental insuranceHealth savings account with generous IU contributionsHealthcare and dependent care flexible spending accountsBasic group life insurance paid by IUVoluntary supplemental life, long-term disability, critical illness, and supplemental accidental death & dismemberment insuranceBase retirement plan with generous IU contributions, subject to vestingVoluntary supplemental retirement plan optionsTuition subsidy for employees and family members taking IU courses10 paid holidays plus a paid winter break each yearGenerous paid time off plansPaid leave for new parents and IU-sponsored volunteer eventsEmployee assistance program (EAP)Company OverviewIndiana University is a public research-intensive university that focuses on liberal arts and sciences.
