Position Overview The Human Resources Assistant (Remote) is a Confidential position that performs a variety of administrative tasks in support of the general human resource needs of the organization. This is a fixed-term position with an expected end date on or before Dec. 20, 2024, and reports to the Human Resources Administrator. Key Responsibilities Employee Onboarding and Off-boarding: Assist in employee onboarding and off-boarding on a remote basis, ensuring a seamless transition for new hires and departing employees. Employee Support: Answer basic employee questions about compensation and benefits, and provide guidance on organizational policies and procedures. HR Administration: Assist in the creation and maintenance of employee forms or documents, process employee status changes or benefits enrollments, and maintain records of completed transactions. Background and Motor Vehicle Record Checks: Assist with employee background and motor vehicle record checks, log information for review, and maintain confidentiality. Collective Bargaining Agreements: Assist in the administration of Collective Bargaining Agreements, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures. Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, including providing support for HR-related projects and initiatives. Essential Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Experience: 1-2 years of experience in human resources, administration, or a related field; experience with payroll and benefits administration is an asset. Skills and Competencies: Exhibit ethical conduct and maintain confidentiality regarding all aspects of work at all times. Dependable, consistently at work and on time, strictly follow instructions and policy. Ability to prioritize, plan and organize work activities, and consistently use time efficiently. Strong interpersonal skills. Good judgment. Effective oral and written communication skills. Computer efficiency in Microsoft and / or Google Workspace products. Preferred Qualifications Certifications: SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred. Experience: Experience working in a remote environment or with a distributed team. Skills: Familiarity with HR software and systems, such as HRIS and benefits administration platforms.
