HR Coordinator - Public Infrastructure
The County of Sonoma is seeking an HR Coordinator to join their dynamic Public Infrastructure team. This role involves providing technical and administrative support for various HR functions including recruitment, training, and employee relations.ResponsibilitiesAssist the Human Resources/Safety Administrative Services Officer II (ASO) and Department Analyst on the SPI HR Team with technical and administrative support for department-wide recruitment, training, safety, disability management, payroll, and employee relations effortsGrow strong working relationships and assist colleagues to better understand their needs and strengthsResearch rules, regulations, and best practices to assist in the development of special and long-term administrative projects, policies, and proceduresCoordinate and schedule interviews, conduct reference checks, coordinate pre-employment background checks, and maintain personnel files and recordsReview and enter records into our Applicant Tracking and Learning Management Systems (NEOGOV and Saba, respectively)Coordinate and attend safety meetings and assist with the department safety training programHelp to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) and the Brown ActCross-train on payroll-related functions and learn how to coordinate leaves of absences and how to request medical examinations for prospective employeesSkillsWork experience that would provide an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listedExperience related to general administration, accounting, budgetary analysis, or human resources work including the compilation, tabulation, analysis, and presentation of statistical and narrative written reportsAny combination of course work and training that would provide an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listedAcademic course work in public administration, business administration, management, accounting, political science, economics, statistics, English composition, psychology or closely related coursesPossession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level including special endorsements, as required by the State of CaliforniaKnowledge of administrative techniques and principles of organization, accounting, budget and human resources administrationTechniques and practices of research methodology, data collection, and preliminary analysisReport writingApplication and use of basic statisticsInterview techniques sufficient to obtain information related to employment and administrative mattersWritten and oral communications, including language mechanics, syntax and English compositionModern office methods and proceduresDatabase, spreadsheet and word processing applications including basic methods of graphic presentationsAbility to collect, compile and analyze qualitative and quantitative dataAbility to understand and explain laws, regulations and policies governing program operationsAbility to communicate effectively orally and in writingAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, employees, clients, and the publicAbility to understand program objectives in relation to departmental goals and proceduresAbility to organize and prioritize work assignmentsAbility to use and understand common database, spreadsheet and word processing applicationsAbility to learn specialized computer applicationsExperience researching, tracking, analyzing, and interpreting dataExcellent organizational skills, including the ability to follow complex policies and procedures while juggling multiple deadlinesExperience drafting policies and proceduresExcellent written communication skillsAdvanced customer service skills and the ability to effectively handle inquiries, coordinate services for various internal and external stakeholders, and maintain collaborative working relationshipsProject management experience, with the ability to prioritize and balance multiple projectsThe ability to work independently and take initiative effectivelyKnowledge of database systems and advanced-level competencies with Microsoft Office softwarePrevious HR/Payroll and Safety experience, certifications, and/or trainingBenefitsHybrid Telework - A schedule that meets the needs of our staff, department operations, and the communities we serve may be available depending on the assignmentSalary Advancement - A salary increase after 1,040 hours (6 months when working full-time) for good work performance;
