The City of Las Vegas Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs department is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor (WSI). As an hourly, part-time employee, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of our pool patrons while teaching swimming courses and promoting aquatic programs.

Key Responsibilities
Lifeguarding: Safeguard pool and patrons, responding to emergencies and providing assistance as needed.
Teaching Swimming Courses: Teach swimming courses, competitive swimming, synchronized swimming, water polo, and/or diving to individuals of various ages and skill levels.
Pool Maintenance: Maintain order and cleanliness in the pool and adjoining areas, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for patrons.
Equipment Setup and Takedown: Set up and/or take down equipment for programs and special events, demonstrating flexibility and attention to detail.
Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, responding to patron inquiries and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
Essential Qualifications
Minimum 16 years of age
American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification
Water Safety Instructor Certification (Note: Shallow Water and Aquatic Attraction Lifeguarding Certification is not applicable)
Reliable transportation
Ability to pass a swim test, demonstrating proficiency in swimming and lifeguarding skills
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual skills, enhancing ability to communicate with diverse patrons
Previous experience as a lifeguard and/or swimming instructor
Knowledge of aquatic programs and activities, such as competitive swimming, synchronized swimming, and water polo
