Role Description The Sales Tax and Revenue Analyst is responsible for ensuring compliance with sales tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions and product offerings, managing vendor-related sales tax transactions, and supporting accurate revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606. This role requires a strong understanding of tax laws, accounting principles, and revenue recognition standards, along with excellent analytical and organizational skills. • Monitor and ensure compliance with sales tax regulations across various U.S. states and product categories. • Maintain customer exemption certificates. • Assist with nexus analysis and tracking. • Collaborate with internal teams to assess taxability of new products and services. • Prepare and file sales tax returns and support audits as needed. • Assist with implementation of sales tax engine software (e.g., Avalara, Vertex, or similar), including configuration, updates, and integration with ERP systems. • Understand export rules and ensure compliance with international regulations. • Review selected vendor invoices for appropriate sales tax charges. • Manage reseller exemption certificates and ensure proper application to vendor transactions. • Reconcile vendor tax charges and resolve discrepancies related to tax exemptions. • Analyze contracts and product offerings to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment, primarily software revenue. • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of ASC 606 compliance processes. • Collaborate with finance and legal teams to assess revenue implications of new business models or pricing structures. • Support month-end close activities related to revenue, including journal entries and reconciliations. • Prepare reports on sales tax liabilities, exemptions, and revenue recognition metrics. • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and analysis. • Identify process improvements and automation opportunities in tax and revenue workflows. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. • 2+ years of experience in tax accounting, revenue recognition, or related areas. • Strong understanding of sales tax regulations and ASC 606. • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred or similar). • Experience managing sales tax engine software (e.g., Avalara, Vertex). • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.). • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Requirements • Experience with multi-state sales tax compliance and exemption management. • Prior experience in revenue recognition.
