We schedule to your area(s) of interest. Requirements: For Reading/English tutors: Education/Teaching Degree in process For Math tutors: Strong proficiency through Algebra 2 (Education Degree not required) For TestPrep (ACT/SAT) Tutor: Strong ACT/SAT score (30/1400 preferred) 1 year teaching or tutoring experience preferred Ability to make connections with students Strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task Working out of one of our locations in Lake Zurich/Barrington or Schaumburg Skills and Qualities necessary: Teach using Sylvan based programs Direct and motivate students during instruction Reward students for successful work Evaluate and document student progress Communicate student needs to our Educational Team Develop rapport with students and establish a fun, engaging learning environment Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and Sylvan Sylvan Learning Centers are the industry leaders in providing supplemental education to children in pre-K through 12th grade. We provide individualized instruction in Comprehension, Reading, English, Writing, Math and Study Skills. We also offer ACT and SAT Test Prep. We teach 7 days per week and require our teachers to work at least one of Saturday/Sunday, and at least one day during the week. We have extended teaching opportunities in the summer.
