The Training Department is part of the Account Management group of Cleaver-Brooks. This department is responsible for executing the Learning and Professional Development strategy across the entire enterprise. These responsibilities are aimed at supporting the sales and marketing efforts of Cleaver-Brooks’ four business units and the Sales Representative Organization. The four business units are (1) Packaged Boiler Systems, (2) Industrial Watertube Boiler Systems, (3) Burner Solutions, and (4) Aftermarket Parts and Conversion Solutions. Basic Function: Responsible for creating and executing product and application specific training programs to the Cleaver-Brooks Representative network and new or existing end-user customers. Essential Duties: Develop, improve, and execute training and educational programs to the two primary audiences (1) authorized service representatives and (2) end-user customers. Develop standard operating processes supporting the strategies and business plan for the Training Department. Analyzes training requirements of new products/technologies and applications. Compile information relating to product function and operation from vendors or internal departments such as engineering, manufacturing, or sales. Develop written and visual training materials. Develop complete equipment-specific training programs. Coordinate training needs and schedules with various employees at customer companies. Train customers in function of product, assists in developing maintenance schedules and recordkeeping systems for products. Collaborate with internal businesses to ensure the training programs and customers are supported cross functionally across the five Cleaver-Brooks businesses. Utilize effective organization and communication skills, both written and oral, which are critical for this position. Effectively interact with several outside companies including sales and service representatives, customers, resellers, end-users, business associations and professional organizations. Stay current with changes in training and education technology as well as changes within the Corporation. Use this knowledge to recommend improvement in systems and procedures. Demonstrate a thorough and relevant product knowledge. Interface with others inside and outside the Company to explain Company programs, products, training opportunities and communication efforts. All other duties as assigned. Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline is required. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical training, preferably with experience in training personnel in the boiler and burner industry. Experience as a Service Technician in the boiler industry preferred. Other Requirements: Excellent verbal, written, presenting and telephone communication skills. Must be able and willing to collaborate in a team/cooperative environment as well as exercise independent judgment and initiative. Ability to set and change priorities amongst multiple competing constituencies and project ambiguities. Must possess a ‘can do attitude’. Experience and a successful record in a role of developing and executing curriculum-based training programs. Ability to be a self starter, take initiative, and perform quality work with minimal supervision. Travel Requirements: 50+% travel within North America to support the training programs will be required. Physical Skill and Effort: Work requires a few simple, but rapid, hand operations, and simple, easy muscular movements. Working Conditions and Hazards: Normal plant, shop, field or office conditions. From time to time, slightly disagreeable features. Negligible/little or no exposure.
