Role Description As a CDL Compliance Auditor, you will travel throughout Washington State to evaluate third-party CDL examiners, ensuring all testing aligns with Department of Licensing (DOL) standards and statutory requirements. In this role, you will: • Review and approve exam routes. • Conduct detailed audits. • Prepare comprehensive reports on your findings. • Interview business owners, examiners, and customers as necessary. • Provide guidance, support, and training to promote consistency and compliance across all testing locations. Your work will help ensure that every Washington resident has access to fair, reliable testing. Some of what you will be doing: • Conduct certification, recertification & reinstatement actions. • Approve and certify exam routes. • Recommend changes or corrective action that is required to reach compliance with federal, state law, rule or DOL policy. • Develop and recommend a work plan and schedule for each audit/inspection. • Support investigation of complaints regarding allegations of non-compliance, fraud, inappropriate behavior, or any other complaint issues. Qualifications • Three (3) years of professional experience managing, directing and/or conducting audits or investigations and business practices which could include: • Presenting relevant and pertinent information or evidence by professionally engaging with employers, employees, stakeholders, witnesses, licensees, etc. • Providing technical and rule related advice to business owners, their employees, or stakeholders. • Interpreting and applying federal and state policies, rules, and laws. • Presenting findings to intended parties. • Knowledge of Auditing techniques or investigation skills. • OR Three (3) years of technical experience in a regulatory or licensing program environment, interpreting and applying laws, rules, regulations, etc. • Up to two (2) years of relevant education in business/public administration, auditing, criminal justice or a closely allied field may substitute year for year of experience. • Experience must include: • Two (2) years of experience identifying, collecting, organizing and documenting data and information for report writing; preparing comprehensive and detailed reports. • Two (2) years of experience analyzing and interpreting RCWs, WACs, state and federal laws, rules, regulations, statutes, and policies and procedures and applying them in relevant work experience to communicate to customers, clients, or stakeholders and/or resolve customer complaints, inquiries, and complex problems. • Two (2) years of experience using Microsoft Suite office products including Excel, Word, and Outlook. • Licensed for Class-A CDL without restriction. • The ability to: • Understand and follow agency values of respect, trust, diversity, equity, and inclusion through behaviors, and decisions. • Promote and support a respectful, equitable, and inclusive workplace for all employees. • Promote and support respectful, equitable, and inclusive delivery of services to customers. • Take action to learn and grow. • Take action to meet the needs of others. • Up to two (2) years of relevant education may substitute year for year for experience. Requirements • One (1) year of experience in auditing, management, project management, and/or investigations. • Experience conducting driver license skills test examinations OR training and/or evaluating others to conduct CDL skills test examinations. • Experience building positive working relationships and establishing trust and credibility with stakeholder groups, responding to their questions and concerns, identifying opportunities and challenges, proposed solutions, and offering ideas for consideration. • Experience developing and/or delivering training programs or presentations or assisting with training new or less experienced staff. • Experience conducting verbal or written presentations to industry groups, stakeholders, licensees, staff, or other customers, to include organization of materials conveying the information, and providing assistance and education relating to state laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. • Completion of a recognized investigator or regulatory auditor training OR experience or formalized training performing audits, inspections, or investigations of business and practices to include preparing comprehensive audit or inspection reports, knowledge of methods, principles, standards and techniques of audits or investigations. • Experience working in DRIVES/POLARIS, user interfaces, web-based applications, and retrieving/updating data from unique department database systems.
