Role Description
We are seeking a Billing Specialist/Medical Coder for our Central Billing Office. This position is remote and open to candidates based anywhere in the United States.
ā¢ Assign codes to diagnoses and procedures, using ICD, HCPCS, and CPT codes
ā¢ Make judicious decisions on which codes to assign in each instance and function to a high level of accuracy
ā¢ Ensure codes are accurate and sequenced correctly in accordance with government and insurance regulations
ā¢ Work with the clinic staff to ensure the charges are billed to the responsible party as needed
ā¢ Communicate with other clinical staff regarding documentation
ā¢ Search for information in cases where the coding is complex or unusual
ā¢ Review charts as needed to ensure coding accuracy
ā¢ Ensure compliance with medical coding and policies
ā¢ Work directly with other team members on appeals and denials from insurance payors
ā¢ Understand and bill both professional and facility claims
ā¢ Process a high volume of claims accurately
ā¢ Work directly with department manager, clinic, and other billing staff
ā¢ Prepare reports as requested by management team
ā¢ This position is full time covering the coding/billing of a multi-location practice
ā¢ The duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list and additional tasks may be assigned to the employee from time to time
Qualifications
ā¢ Associate's Degree in Medical Coding or CPC Certification
ā¢ CPC certification is preferred
ā¢ Minimum of 2 years in medical billing/coding
ā¢ Fertility billing background preferred but not mandatory
ā¢ Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology
ā¢ Commitment to a high level of customer service
ā¢ Familiarity with ICD-10 codes and procedures
ā¢ Solid oral and written communication skills
ā¢ Working knowledge of medical jargon and anatomy preferred
ā¢ Highly proficient at Excel
ā¢ Able to work independently and with a team as needed
ā¢ Competent use of computer systems and software, Azalea and Athena preferred
ā¢ Ability to talk on phone and communicate verbally
