POSITION SUMMARY

The Compliance & Audit Supervisor is responsible for supporting the HIM Compliance & Audit Manager by supervising the auditors assigned to their area of responsibility. This position will be responsible for ensuring the auditors are following audit expectations for both internal and external audits by tracking audit completion and running quarterly scores for clients. The supervisor will also be responsible for assisting the manager with onboarding new clients and auditors, as well as, ensuring coding assignments are performed to client expectations. The Compliance & Audit Supervisor serves as a resource for internal and external customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

General:
• Assist Manager with onboarding and training of new auditors.
• Update Audit Tracker and Quarterly Scores to ensure timeliness of audit completion
• Assist in conducting assessments (PA’s) of potential new hires as necessary
• Assist Auditors with gathering client onboarding documents and maintaining documentation repository.
• Assist in creating thought leadership material (ie. White papers, tip & tricks, regulatory updates, webinars, etc.) in conjunction with marketing team to be distributed through social media channels, websites and conferences.
• Assist in disseminating coding materials (i.e., AHA Coding Clinic and CPT Assistant to internal HIM Consultants)
• Assist in grading potential new hires’ tests, and prepare new tests every October and January when the ICD-10 CM codes and CPT codes are revised
• Assist and support Recruiters and Account Executives as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Auditor Management:
• Assist in auditing education including monthly education sessions and ongoing continuing education for the HIM Consultants, on-site education, web based in-service education,
• May be required to perform Coding based audits, or billable client projects when needed
• Ensure that all HIM Auditors (internal and external) meet expected productivity standards, complete required audits timely as outlined in the HIM Compliance & Audit Plan

Operations Management:
• Assist Manager in ensuring client expectations or requirements are met, attend client meetings as necessary.
• Assist in conducting internal and external education programs
• Education may include quarterly conference calls, ongoing continuing education for the HIM Consultants, on-site education, web based in-service education,
• Ensure that all HIM Coding Consultants have a coaching and development plan established by the auditor when scores are under 95% accuracy and/or productivity standards are not met as outlined in the HIM Compliance & Audit Plan
• Assist in perform education, disciplinary actions, or other measures for those failing to meet quality and/or productivity standards
• Assist in conducting assessments (PA’s) of potential new hires
• Assist in backlog coding projects when necessary

QUALIFICATIONS
• Associates degree in business or related field required
• 2+ years of HIM coding management required
• RHIA, RHIT and/or CCS preferred with additional experience
• 3+-years of auditing experience, both inpatient and outpatient areas required
• Thorough working knowledge and demonstrated experience in both MS-DRGs, APR-DRGs, and APC’s required
• Current working knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding fraud and abuse laws required
• Strong ability to interface with all levels of the organization
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills is a must
• Creative, outgoing, energetic person with a demonstrable track record of exceeding goals
• Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proven knowledge of MS Office products
