Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist II - Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center - Seattle, WA - work from home job Company: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Job description: Responsibilities • Responsible for chart creation, maintenance, and breakdown for all Fred Hutch Clinics, on paper and in electronic formats. • Responds to requests for charts and patient information from providers, clinics, and facilities as needed and in accordance with HIM policies, Federal and Washington State laws. • Supports HIM processes as assigned in the areas of: • Printing and distribution of transcription. • Participating in any and all aspects of scanning. • Meets productivity standards as determined by HIM leadership. • Performs other reasonably related HIM duties as assigned by HIM leadership. • Assists with cross coverage in the HIM department by training others and learning new tasks. • Collects patient records from clinics and brings to HIM for inclusion in patient charts. Qualifications Required: • Associate of Arts Degree in Health Information Management or complimentary field of study; or equivalent work experience. • Minimum one year in healthcare environment. • Highly organized and detailed oriented with ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously. • Demonstrates proficiency with computer data entry skills. • Ability to interact with many types of internal and external customers in a flexible, accommodating manner. • Demonstrated ability to communicate well (in both verbal and written formats) with patients, staff, and providers • Knowledge of health information management operations and HIPAA guidelines. • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment based upon departmental policies and procedures. • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite applications, ORCA, Epic, Mindscape, and scanning software. Preferred: • Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management or equivalent work experience. • RHIT/RHIA certification This position is patient facing and/or requires access to Fred Hutch clinical facilities. As such, full COVID-19 vaccination is required as a condition of employment, without exception. Booster doses are strongly recommended but not required. The hourly pay range for this position is from $27.52 to $39.18 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
