STEPS Transition Special Education Teaching Assistant (Self-Contained)

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated professional to provide support to students in a self-contained setting.
Job Summary:
As a STEPS Transition Special Education Teaching Assistant (Self-Contained), you will work closely with licensed teachers and therapists to implement instructional plans, provide physical care, and support students with activities to maximize participation in learning and achievement of IEP objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement instructional plans as determined by licensed teachers and therapists
Assist students with activities to maximize participation in learning and achievement of IEP objectives
Provide physical care as needed, such as diapering, toileting, feeding, and reinforcing adaptive PE/motor activities
Observe, document, and reinforce appropriate student behaviors
Participate in weekly team meetings to review student progress and plan upcoming lessons
Assist with non-instructional activities and maintain safety, behavior, decorum, and order in common areas
Requirements:
Valid Educator License with Stipulations (PARA), Substitute License, or Professional Educator License
Experience with special education students preferred
Ability to read, write, and speak English
Basic arithmetic operations and proficiency in using personal computers and software applications
Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and maintain confidentiality
Physical Abilities:
Lift students and perform physical manipulations as needed
Regularly required to see, speak, and hear
Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb, climb stairs or balance, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
