Description:
As a Set Extension Artist at Disney, you will utilize your expertise in computer-generated imagery (CGI) and artistic skills to create immersive and engaging environments for our films and television shows. This is a unique opportunity to join our team of talented artists and contribute to the magic of Disney.
Responsibilities:
Execute layered, pre-lit, view-dependent artworks flawlessly integrated with fully CG environments
Collaborate with the lighting team and Production Designers to elaborate and expand the environments carefully for the scenes we are creating
Create foundations, scenes, and environments in a 3D world using digital painting and delivering projects like Maya, Photoshop, Nuke, Houdini, Clarisse, and more
Extrapolate artistic direction: plan, building style, lighting, and illustrations, which adhere to the Production Designers' overall vision
Support the technical aspects of the work created
Work together with the Art Department, Layout, Animation, Visual Effects, and Lighting teams
Decipher concept art and color keys into adapted, yet sensible final picture
Plan environment for a shot given extrapolation of more summarized concept art
Arrange entire shot extension without prior knowledge
Displaying depending on the situation, particularly complex landscape aging
Surface and shader aging depending on the situation
Lighting of self-produced 3D assets as well as existing show assets using Dlight, Maya, and Hyperion
Production of fully accepted high-resolution HDR digital matte paintings
Making of fully composited set extension in Nuke using 3D projections, creative compositing, and after-production motion blur and DOF
Take artistic direction from various sources and collaborate with multiple departments to achieve the final shot
Deliver final frames to the lighting department
Requirements:
Four-year degree or equivalent experience
Proficient experience required, motion experience preferred
High skill level in painting, piece, perspective, and color theory
Grasps a 2.5D workflow with multiple projection cameras with extensive knowledge of both 2D and 3D workflows and perspectives
Great creative abilities with an eagerness to learn new workflows
Broad knowledge of Macintosh OSX and Linux and software like Photoshop, Maya, Nuke, and other renderers
Ability to work iteratively in a fluid and fast-paced environment, take direction effectively, and participate as a member of a highly collaborative team
Ideal candidates would have secondary art skills or come from a generalist background
Broad knowledge of real lighting and materials
Ideal foundation in custom drawing and painting
A broad understanding of shot and painting arrangement, with ideal knowledge of cinematography
Strong understanding of photography and its terminology
Ability to tackle complex issues in a very creative manner
