Elementary Special Education Teaching Assistant (Part-Time)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Elementary Special Education Teaching Assistant to join our team at DuPage Regional Office of Education. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs to achieve their Individualized Education Program (IEP) objectives. This is a part-time position with immediate openings available, offering a competitive salary of $16.00/hour.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement instructional plans as determined by licensed teachers and therapists
Assist students with activities to maximize participation in learning and achievement of IEP objectives
Administer curriculum-based tests/quizzes and record student assignments and progress
Provide physical care and support as needed, including assisting with daily living skills
Observe, document, and reinforce appropriate student behaviors
Participate in weekly team meetings to review student progress and plan upcoming lessons
Assist with non-instructional activities and maintain a safe and orderly school environment
Requirements:
Valid Educator License with Stipulations (PARA), Substitute License, or Professional Educator License
Experience working with special education students preferred
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
Basic arithmetic skills and proficiency in using personal computers and software applications
Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and maintain confidentiality
Physical ability to lift students and perform other manipulations as needed
