The person in this position will manage various tasks related to group insurance underwriting, in particular assessing risk and pricing of Group Life, Short term/Long term disability, Health, Dental and other ancillary benefits. You will apply insurance underwriting standards for applications with a medium to high level of complexity and provide high quality of service to the sale and maintenance of clients with various funding arrangements. More specifically, you will be responsible to: Proactive in managing client requests and develop a clear understanding of the clients’ needs.Oversee risk selection and pricing decisions for mid-size group insurance market while establish risk selection and pricing on VIP clients in collaboration with Team Lead and Manager.Work with junior Underwriters to prepare renewal/quotes for large or complex cases.Oversees and review financial reporting for large VIP clients.Provide underwriting recommendations for balancing profitability and business growth.Establish strong working relationship with our Sales team and work in collaboration to acquire new business and sale renewals to existing clients.Process all assigned work in accordance with departmental service standards.Propose innovation ideas and process changes to optimize client services delivery.Make decisive and informed decisions/recommendations through value added analysisWhat we offer*Competitive salary and annual bonus4 weeks of flexible vacation starting in the first yearDefined benefit pension plan that provides predictable, stable income throughout retirementGroup insurance including telemedicineReimbursement of health and wellness expenses and telework equipment* Benefits apply based on eligibility criteria.#LI-Remote #ON07-What you bring to the tableCollege diploma in a related fieldA minimum of three years of relevant experience in Group Benefits/UnderwritingPlease note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be consideredHolds LOMA or CEBS, Industry courses taken and/or designations Strong knowledge of Group insurance concepts, products, and contract provisionsIntermediate knowledge of MS Office tools, specifically MS ExcelAdvanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clientsAction oriented, Customer Focus, Decision quality, Differences, Nimble learning, Situational adaptabilityTrade Union (If applicable)At Desjardins, we believe in equity, diversity and inclusion.
