Grant Writer for LGBTQ History Nonprofit (Storytelling + Archival Work)

The LGBTQ History Project (lgbtqhp.org) is looking for an experienced, mission-driven grant writer to support us, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and amplifying the stories of LGBTQ activists—especially those whose contributions have been overlooked or erased. This work focuses on oral histories, archival preservation, and public storytelling (including podcasts, events, and digital content). We’re looking for someone who can both **identify strong grant opportunities** and **write compelling proposals** that resonate with funders supporting LGBTQ+ communities, arts/culture, and social justice initiatives. --- • *Scope of Work:** • Research and identify relevant grant opportunities (foundations, arts funding, LGBTQ+ orgs, etc.) • Write and/or edit grant proposals • Help shape narrative and positioning for funding applications --- • *Ideal Candidate:** • Proven track record of successful grant applications (please share examples or results) • Experience with nonprofits, ideally in: • LGBTQ+ advocacy • Arts, culture, or history organizations • Strong storytelling ability — this project is narrative-driven • Ability to work independently and recommend opportunities • Familiarity with funders in the LGBTQ+ or social impact space is a big plus --- • *Project Details:** • Initial project: build grant applications + opportunity research • Budget: Open, but looking for cost-effective / long-term collaboration • Potential for ongoing work if it’s a good fit About the Project: The LGBTQ History Project documents first-person accounts from activists across generations—connecting past movements to present-day struggles and ensuring these stories are preserved and shared widely. lgbtqhp.org • *To Apply:** Please include: 1.
