Required Qualifications (The "Must-Haves") • Proven, Recent Government Experience: Demonstrated experience working within California state government (e.g., as legislative staff, committee consultant, agency staff) OR within the administration of one or more California counties. • Verifiable, Direct Network: A professional network with current staff in Sacramento and/or multiple county government offices. You must be able to get a call returned. • Process Acumen: Understanding of state and local government processes, budgeting cycles, and political dynamics. • Superior Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills, with a proven ability to synthesize complex ideas into clear, compelling messages. • Independent Operator: Ability to work autonomously, meet deadlines, and report progress with clarity and professionalism. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with or knowledge of municipal finance, affordable housing policy, or reentry services. • Existing relationships with members of key legislative committees (e.g., Assembly Housing, Senate Budget) or the California State Association of Counties (CSAC). • Bilingual abilities are a plus.
