Gallery Attendant
About the position
The Gallery Attendant supports this mission by ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment by monitoring galleries, conducting security patrols, enforcing safety policies, and responding to incidents. The incumbent provides excellent visitor service by welcoming guests, offering information, and assisting with wayfinding while supporting daily operations and emergency response.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Welcome visitors to the museum.
ā¢ Provide information on current exhibitions and permanent collections.
ā¢ Direct visitors to galleries, restrooms, information desks, and other points of interest.
ā¢ Proactively convey museum safety requirements and rules to visitors.
ā¢ Observe and monitor visitors throughout the museum and galleries to maintain order and secure conditions.
ā¢ Perform security patrols to protect the museum and its contents from loss, vandalism, or theft.
ā¢ Observe and report irregularities such as fire or water hazards.
ā¢ Address unsafe behavior in a confident, calm, and friendly manner.
ā¢ Respond to emergencies according to defined departmental protocols.
ā¢ Coordinate with Campus Services, Campus Police, fire, or other emergency response personnel during incidents.
ā¢ Complete all opening and closing procedures accurately; without error.
ā¢ Prepare incident reports as necessary.
ā¢ Communicate effectively and maintain a professional demeanor with coworkers and departmental leaders.
ā¢ Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
ā¢ 1+ year of relevant experience.
