Primary Responsibilities:
• Develop cloud‑native applications: Design, develop and deploy scalable, secure and cost‑efficient web applications and micro‑services using AWS services such as S3, EC2, Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, SQS, SNS and DynamoDB. Draw on AWS best practices to ensure performance, reliability and resilience.
• Modern front‑end development: Build responsive UIs using modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Vue, React, or Angular) and ensure seamless integration with backend APIs. Collaborate with UX designers to deliver accessible, mobile‑friendly experiences.
• Infrastructure as Code: Provision and manage cloud infrastructure using AWS CDK, CloudFormation and Terraform. Automate environment setup, configuration and deployment pipelines (CI/CD) to support rapid, reliable releases.
• Serverless and event‑driven architecture: Orchestrate workflows using Lambda, Step Functions, SQS and SNS to build highly available, loosely coupled services. Implement asynchronous messaging and error‑handling patterns.
• APIs & integration: Design and develop RESTful and GraphQL APIs; integrate with third‑party systems; follow secure coding practices. Use Python (with frameworks such as FastAPI/Flask) and JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js) for backend services.
• Security & compliance: Ensure all systems meet HIPAA/FISMA/FedRAMP security requirements. Implement authentication, authorization, encryption and secure data storage. Monitor and remediate vulnerabilities, focusing on healthcare data protection.
• Testing & quality: Write unit, integration and end‑to‑end tests; develop automated testing frameworks; perform code reviews to maintain high code quality.
• Performance & cost optimization: Monitor application performance and AWS resource usage, proactively tuning for scalability and cost efficiency. Use CloudWatch, X‑Ray and other observability tools.
• Collaboration & mentorship: Work closely with architects, product owners and DevOps engineers. Mentor junior developers, participate in sprint planning, and contribute to continuous process improvement.
• Continuous learning: Stay current on emerging AWS services and web technologies; recommend and implement improvements to enhance system capabilities and developer productivity.

Required Qualifications/Competencies (These must be CLEARLY listed on resume):
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or another similar quantitative field. Additional experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
• 9 years of professional software development, including significant experience building and deploying full‑stack web applications. At least 5 years’ experience designing and implementing cloud‑native solutions on AWS.
• Technical skills: Advanced proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript. Hands‑on expertise with AWS services like Lambda, EC2, S3, DynamoDB and API Gateway. Strong grasp of infrastructure‑as‑code tools (AWS CDK, CloudFormation, Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Front‑end: Strong knowledge of modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue or Angular), HTML5 and CSS3. Experience creating interactive UIs and optimizing for performance and accessibility.
• Infrastructure & DevOps: Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/ECS/EKS) and serverless patterns. Comfortable with Linux, networking, and cloud security best practices.
• Database expertise: Experience designing and querying relational (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL databases (DynamoDB). Knowledge of caching and event‑streaming technologies is a plus.
• Communication & leadership: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and to mentor junior developers.
• Education & certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with AWS Step Functions, EventBridge, Bedrock or other AI/ML services.
• Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7) and federal compliance frameworks.
• Proficiency with Terraform Cloud and multi‑account AWS governance patterns.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like Jira, Confluence and GitLab.
• AWS Certified Developer or Solutions Architect certification preferred; additional certifications (e.g., Security Specialty) and healthcare‑industry experience are bonuses.
