Purpose of Position
As a Software Engineer you will be part of a cross-functional service-oriented team, working on extending and maintaining our Affiliate Marketing platform. Your responsibilities include writing clean, secure, and well-tested code, following best-practice guidelines, and collaborating with the team to operate and enhance assigned parts of the platform.
You will have a significant impact in terms of efficiency, problem-solving, and support knowledge sharing. Additionally, you will work closely with the product owner and team members to translate user needs into technical solutions. Throughout the lifecycle of a service or product, from requirements to deployment, support, and maintenance, contribute throughout the lifecycle, considering deadlines, balancing effort and outcome, and proactively addressing risks.
Your contribution will be vital in overcoming challenges and ensuring that our service continues to meet the needs of our business and customers.
The Team
You will be joining our Rewards tribe, a cross functional team at the core of the business. We enable advertisers to define how they reward publishers and manage transactions using an event‑driven architecture. We use an exciting array of technologies, including Java/Spring, AWS Lambda, Kafka, NodeJS, SQL/NoSQL databases, Angular, and more.
Key tasks and responsibilities

Work inside a small team and be comfortable with agile methodologies and practices
Proactively advocate for technical improvements and help defining the priorities
Design and build solutions from scratch
Improve existing applications
Develop code and contribute to reviews, retrospectives, planning and development sessions
Follow best-practice guidelines and processes and help to improve those
Work with Product Managers to convert user stories to features and tasks
Grapple with business logic and help solve business needs
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely fashion
Communicate effectively in both verbal (day-to-day discussions, team meetings) and written forms (documentation, emails, communication tools) with local and remote team members

Whilst the above is a guide to general expectation of the role, we expect this position to evolve allowing you greater scope to gain both knowledge and experience within the online and affiliate marketplace.
Skills & Expertise
Required

At least 3 years of hands-on experience in commercial Software Engineering roles
A positive and collaborative work ethic
Eagerness to learn and work with more than one programming language
Proven track record with OOP
Passion for writing elegant code and a desire to constantly refactor and improve, with a good understanding of SOLID principles
Experience and an enthusiasm for using and finding new ways to use AI tools to augment software development practices.
Ability to conduct a thorough code review process, write unit tests and maintain CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with version control systems, preferably Git
Experience with streaming and queuing solutions (ideally Kafka, Kinesis or SQS)
Understanding of relational database concepts, database design principles, and proficiency in SQL
Successful collaboration within a cross-functional engineering team alongside Product Owners, UX Designers and Agile Coaches
Exposure to agile processes, particularly Scrum
Knowledge of TDD or BDD practices
Experience with non-relational databases like DynamoDB, MongoDB
Expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs within a microservices architecture

Nice to have

Experience with monitoring and maintaining production applications
Experience in working with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and modern frontend frameworks (ideally Angular)
Experience working with event‑driven architectures at scale
