Front-end Software Developer Intern

Job Description:

Location: Hybrid – 4 days per week onsite at our headquarters in Fremont, California
Reports To: Director, Performance Engineering and Controls
About the Role
We are seeking a Front-end Software Developer Intern to contribute to the development of a cutting-edge PV performance modeling tool. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to work with a cross-functional team of engineers, where you will focus on enhancing the user experience, improving UI/UX, and expanding the capabilities of our modeling interface.
As an intern, you will play a key role in building intuitive, responsive, and maintainable front-end features that make complex data accessible and actionable for our users.

Key Responsibilities
• Design and implement new front-end features and user interfaces for the PV modeling tool.
• Improve UI/UX by creating user-centric designs and optimizing performance and responsiveness.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers, software engineers, and domain experts to translate requirements into functional and aesthetic interfaces.
• Troubleshoot and resolve front-end bugs and performance bottlenecks.
• Maintain and refactor existing front-end codebase to ensure long-term scalability and maintainability.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to UI/UX best practices.
• Support the deployment and testing of new front-end releases.

Technical Qualifications
• Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and front-end frameworks like Angular (preferred), React, or Vue.
• Experience with HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design principles.
• Familiarity with modern front-end development tools, such as Git, Webpack, and npm.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs and how to consume them from a front-end application.
• Exposure to design tools like Figma is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience working on production-level web applications or collaborative software projects.
