Eastern Ag Transport is vertically integrated freight brokerage with ties to an asset based logistics company and the commercial produce industry. We are located in Dunn and Goldsboro, North Carolina. We are expanding rapidly and looking for the right candidate to help us grow seamlessly. We specialize in refrigerated/dry freight along with bulk agricultural aggregates.
Overview
We are seeking a organized and motivated Freight Broker / Logistics Coordinator to join our team. We are looking for a candidate that can help facilitate shipments for existing customers as well as bring in new customers of their own. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in the logistics business, with a focus on optimizing freight movements and building lasting partnerships in the trucking industry. The employee will need to possess problem solving skills and be able to think outside the box. This is predominately a remote position but would need to come to office meetings when needed. ( MUST LIVE IN NORTH CAROLINA AND PREFERABLY CLOSE TO OFFICE LOCATIONS) This position offers an opportunity to work within a fast-paced, lucrative business that has endless opportunities. The salary and commission payment structure is based on experience. We are open to discussion given the employees experience and value.
Duties
• Coordinate and manage freight shipments for established customers while also seeking new clients.
• Develop and maintain relationships with carriers, shippers, and clients to facilitate efficient logistics solutions.
• Negotiate rates, contracts, and terms with carriers and clients to optimize costs and service levels.
• Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and other logistics platforms to track shipments, update statuses, and manage data entry accurately.
• Oversee account management activities including customer service, issue resolution, and ensuring compliance.
• Generate leads in efforts to expand business opportunities.
• Dispatch carriers efficiently while understanding the requirements needed to make a successful delivery.
• Manage pricing strategies for freight services based on market conditions and client needs.
• Support sales efforts by preparing proposals, quotes for prospective clients.
• Collaborate with sales management to develop logistics solutions for established business and prospective clients
Requirements
• 1 Year experience in the transportation industry, logistics coordinator or as a freight broker.
• A book of business is a plus but not necessary.
• Experience in the agriculture industry and produce shipments are a plus.
• Strong understanding of transportation planning, dispatching, freight management, and logistics sales.
• Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS).
• Excellent negotiation skills coupled with effective account management abilities.
• Ability to handle data entry accurately while managing multiple shipments simultaneously.
• Strong communication skills for customer relationship management and day to day operations.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment requiring attention to detail.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
