Freelance SEO Strategist
Project: Agency Catalog (data-driven agency discovery platform)
We are looking for an experienced SEO Strategist to support the development and growth of our Agency Catalog — a platform that helps businesses discover, evaluate, and connect with digital marketing agencies.
The goal of this project is to evolve and scale our existing catalog into a data-driven discovery and lead-generation platform that consistently attracts high-intent organic traffic.
The catalog may also move to a new domain, so SEO architecture and migration planning will be an important part of the project.
This role combines strategic ownership and hands-on execution, working closely with our product, design, and development teams to ensure the platform is built for sustainable organic growth.
Responsibilities
Phase 1 — SEO architecture and strategy
Conduct a technical SEO audit of the existing catalog to identify key limitations and opportunities
Define the SEO architecture of the agency directory
Design a scalable directory structure and taxonomy
Identify opportunities for high-intent agency discovery pages
Define which category, industry, and location pages should exist
Provide recommendations for SEO-friendly URL structure
Define an indexation strategy for directory pages and filters
Define internal linking principles for scalable growth
Define the organic growth strategy for the catalog
Phase 2 — Organic growth and traffic generation
Lead domain migration planning and execution (if applicable), ensuring minimal traffic loss and proper indexation
Ensure crawlability and indexation across scalable directory pages
Identify and resolve technical SEO bottlenecks (in collaboration with the dev team)
Take a hands-on role in implementing key SEO improvements alongside the team
Support the implementation of SEO recommendations across the platform
Identify and launch new SEO landing pages and discovery pages
Identify opportunities for programmatic or scalable page creation
Continuously improve the organic visibility and performance of the catalog
Reporting & collaboration
Monitor SEO performance and track key growth metrics
Report on progress, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders
Communicate SEO decisions clearly and explain the rationale behind strategic choices
Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teams to align SEO with product development
Deliverables

Directory taxonomy and page structure
Technical SEO audit and recommendations
Organic growth roadmap
Recommendations for scalable SEO pages
Ongoing SEO improvements to support organic traffic growth
Requirements
Strong experience with directories, marketplaces, or large structured websites
Strong technical SEO expertise (crawlability, indexation, internal linking, performance)
Experience designing scalable SEO page structures and taxonomies
Experience working with large datasets or structured content
Experience growing organic traffic for marketplaces, directories, or large content platforms
Experience leading or executing domain migrations
Ability to collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams
Ability to clearly communicate and justify SEO decisions to stakeholders
Nice to have
