Freelance Digital Strategy & Implementation Lead
Chicago Based Branding and Integrated Marketing firm is seeking a freelance Digital Strategy & Implementation Lead to help guide website, web app, and digital marketing engagements from discovery through execution.
This is a hybrid role that combines client discovery, UX planning, web strategy, marketing technology insight, and production oversight. The ideal candidate is not necessarily a hands-on coder or a high-end visual designer, but is deeply fluent in how digital platforms, websites, CRMs, marketing channels, and development teams work together to support business growth.
You’ll work closely with leadership, writers, designers, clients, and our development team to help turn strategy into smart, well-executed digital solutions.
What you’ll do
• Participate in client discovery meetings and stakeholder interviews
• Ask strong questions about business operations, customer journey, lead flow, sales process, and current digital challenges
• Help identify opportunities related to websites, UX, CRM, SEO, PPC, social media, and digital marketing systems
• Create or support site maps, wireframes, user flows, and functional recommendations
• Translate approved brand and strategy direction into clear implementation plans
• Coordinate with our development team on websites, landing pages, web apps, and digital tools
• Manage project flow, timelines, feedback, revisions, QA, and launch readiness
• Serve as a client-facing point of contact for digital execution and technical planning
• Help ensure deliverables are strategically sound, technically feasible, and aligned with the client’s business goals
What we’re looking for
• 5+ years of experience in digital project management, web strategy, UX planning, digital production, or a similar role
• Strong understanding of website development and digital marketing ecosystems
• Working knowledge of WordPress, CRM platforms, forms/workflows, SEO, PPC, and social media integration
• Experience developing wireframes, site maps, and functional recommendations
• Ability to manage developers and communicate clearly with technical teams
• Confidence in speaking directly with clients and participating in discovery conversations
• Strong organizational skills and ability to keep multiple moving parts aligned
• Agency experience strongly preferred
• Experience working with remote or offshore development teams is a plus
