Fractional Product Owner – SaaS / Digital Products Type: Freelance / Part-Time (10–20 hours/week) Location: Remote Industry: SaaS / Digital Platforms / Marketing Automation, Ecommerce, AI Compensation: Hourly (commensurate with experience) About the Role: We are looking for a Fractional Product Owner with strong leadership, documentation, and project management skills to guide the evolution of our SaaS platform. You will work directly with leadership and a small team to define product direction, prioritize features, manage delivery timelines, and ensure product-market fit across web-based tools in marketing automation and ecommerce. MUST be excellent at SRD, Functional, and BRD documentation. MUST have experience with SaaS systems and a high degree of technical knowledge. This role requires a detail-oriented, self-motivated individual with a strong ability to lead cross-functional collaboration, align product decisions with business objectives, and document clearly and thoroughly. Key Responsibilities: • Lead product discovery, planning, and sprint execution for a team of developers, designers, and QA. • Translate business goals and user feedback into clear product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria. • Maintain and prioritize the product backlog with a strategic and technical understanding of priorities. • Write and maintain detailed product documentation including specs, workflows, and feature definitions. SRD, BRD, Functional Documenation. • Wireframe system screens to ensure team understandability of UI and user flows. • Track progress with advanced project management tools and methods. • Collaborate with designer (Figma preferred) and development teams to ensure alignment and successful releases. • Conduct user and stakeholder feedback sessions to iterate on product direction. • Interview and survey clients to discover and gather feedback on product features and requirements. • Review competitor systems and come up with strengths an weakness for competitor analysis. Required Qualifications: • 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner in SaaS or digital products. • Demonstrated experience leading and motivating small product teams (5+ people). • Proven ability to write clear, complete, and structured product documentation (samples may be requested). • Strong experience with agile methodologies, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives. • Familiarity with project tracking tools (e.g., Jira / Confluence. • Strong communication and organizational skills. Technical background preferred, especially with prior programming experience. Preferred Skills: • Experience with Figma for UI/UX collaboration. • Familiarity with Balsamiq or other wireframing tools. • Experience with marketing automation platforms and AI-based applications. • Familiarity with analytics, experimentation tools, or SaaS usage tracking (e.g., Mixpanel, PostHog).
